Medication Train the Trainer course provides you with the skills, knowledge and resources to deliver Medication Administration courses in your place of work. Perfect for care homes, domiciliary care and anyone working in health and social care.
Course Aims
This course is part of the Careskills Academy Train the Trainer Programme. Whether you are completing just this course or the whole programme, you will still need to undergo an observation and assessment with one of our experienced Assessors, to ensure that you are competent to deliver Medication training. Your observation and assessment will be carried out virtually.
In the course of their work social care workers may support an individual with their medication.
As professionals they have a ‘duty of care’ to ensure that every individual is supported with their medication safely and with no error.
Medication is a mandatory training subject that must be completed before supporting any vulnerable individual, in a professional capacity.
Trainers must be able to convey information and demonstrate the techniques that feature in each module such as best practice for general support with medication, routes of administration, medication aids, recording medication practice and safeguarding.
In the final stage of the course, we look at the next steps to becoming a medication trainer. This includes reflection on blended learning and understanding practical and theoretical knowledge to bring your learning together. It also provides information on recognising and achieving competency, plus training guidance around observation and assessment, and evaluation of practice.
Guided Learning Hours: up to 2 hours, dependent on learner’s skills and abilities.

What is the Medication Train the Trainer Model?
The Train the Trainer (TTT) model is a teaching and learning approach that equips individuals with the skills, knowledge and confidence to train others in a particular subject. The TTT model involves a master trainer delivering a training programme to groups of individuals who, in turn, will deliver the same training programme to others. This approach is commonly used in workplace training programmes and effectively ensures consistent, high-quality training is delivered to all responders. Furthermore, it helps build a pool of qualified in-house trainers who can deliver training programmes in their organisations or communities, ultimately contributing to developing a skilled workforce. The training format provides first aid trainers with:
- Enhanced knowledge and skills in first aid techniques and principles
- Improved communication and presentation skills, which are essential for effective teaching
- Increased confidence in delivering first aid training to others
- Exposure to a variety of teaching methods and approaches
- Opportunities to receive feedback and guidance on their teaching from experienced trainers
- Access to ongoing support and resources for professional development and continued learning.
