This course is part of the Care Certificate qualification, accredited by TQUK, the Awarding Body for Careskills Academy’s Assessment Centre.
The Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate is a new qualification, due to be launched in Summer 2024. As a Recognised Assessment Centre, Careskills Academy intend to provide this qualification.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles and skills required for a variety of job roles in the adult health and social care sector including: equality and diversity, safeguarding, duty of care, health and safety, person-centred approaches, and handling information.
This qualification develops competence therefore learners must be in paid work to enable assessment to take place.
Currently 54% of direct care workers do not have a level 2 or above qualification. The introduction of the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate qualification will provide a baseline standard and help recognise our care workforce and the professional career that it is.
Entry Requirements
This qualification is suitable for learners of 19 years of age and above. Employer specific induction and mandatory training is to be completed prior to the learner starting the qualification. However, the employer can decide if the qualification can be completed alongside employer specific induction and mandatory training.
There are 15 Mandatory units that must be completed in order to achieve this qualification.

Guided Learning Hours
These hours are made up of all Assessor contact time, guidance and training and the recommended hours may be reduced where online training is part of the programme.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
If a learner has previously completed the Careskills Academy Care Certificate portfolio, then this may be used as evidence during this qualification. This is dependent on calibre of work and when the portfolio is dated, however learners must be prepared to complete further written work should their previous portfolio not entirely cover the unit criteria for this qualification.
Qualification Funding
The government is launching a new Adult Social Care Training and Development fund. Eligible adult social care (ASC) employers can claim varying levels of reimbursement from this fund, for spend on upskilling the adult social care workforce in England.
ASC employers can get reimbursement for the newly developed Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate. Claims for reimbursement will be made through a digital online claims service which is due to go live in summer 2024. Further information under care skills funding will be confirmed by the government later in the year, prior to the online claims service going live.

While our first aid instructor course does not provide certification for the three levels of first aid training, it provides learners with the foundation and knowledge of the three levels of first aid training. This includes:
- Basic First Aid Training (Level 1): Teaches fundamental first aid skills such as CPR, identifying emergencies and treating cuts and wounds.
- Intermediate First Aid Training (Level 2): Builds on basic training and covers more complex medical emergencies such as fractures, head injuries and shock.
- Advanced First Aid Training (Level 3): Offers the highest level of first aid training and includes advanced techniques such as using a defibrillator, administration of intravenous fluids and management of complex medical emergencies such as major trauma.
