About this course
Further to completion of the Care Certificate course, this course is designed to support health and social care workers, who are new to supporting individuals at the end of their life, with an introduction and understanding of End-of-Life Care and their responsibilities relating to this.
The course begins by explaining what End of Life Care is. It then sets out how to support individuals at the end of their life by relating the theory of the relevant care certificate standards to working practice. For example, ‘duty of care’ outlines how to consider the Mental Capacity Act, ‘work in a person-centred way’ looks at empowering individuals to make decisions about their care and support through Advance Care Planning (ACP) and ‘privacy and dignity’ explains advance decisions and Do Not Attempt Resuscitation (DNAR) decisions.
In module 2, the final stage of the course, we look at scenarios and strategies that will strengthen the knowledge through examples of experience. The scenarios support each standard relevant to caring for individuals at the end of their life.
