About this course
Assessment of the Care Certificate is a crucial part of the learner’s knowledge and achievement when they are first employed into a care and support role.
The Assessor is the person responsible for making the decision on whether the learner has met the standards set out in the Care Certificate.
There is no requirement for Assessors to hold an assessment qualification, however employers must be satisfied and confident that staff are competent to assess, and also understand their responsibilities and accountability in assessing the learner through the standards.
The Assessors Tutorial provides guidance on national requirements and teaches the Assessor how to support the learner through the Careskills Care Certificate, seamlessly inducting them into their role.
The Care Certificate is a key component of the overall induction that an employer must provide legally, in order to meet staff training requirements of the Care Quality Commission, and therefore it is vital that the Assessor is competent to assess the following standards. This doesn’t mean that one person has to assess all the standards; it may be more pertinent to have other Assessors for specific standards.
Guided Learning Hours: up to 1 hour, dependent on learner’s skills and abilities.
