About this course
The aim of this eLearning course is to develop your knowledge and understanding of Legionnaires’ Disease and regulatory requirements for minimising the risks in health and social care services.
The course begins by explaining what legionellosis, legionella bacteria and Legionnaires’ Disease are and how the disease is spread. You will then learn the symptoms of Legionnaires’ Disease, the treatments and the common sources of legionella.
In Module Two, you will learn the legal and regulatory framework relating to Legionnaires’ Disease in the workplace. This includes requirements of duty holders and competent persons which are also detailed in Health and Safety Executive’s ACOP (approved code of practice) for Legionnaires’ Disease.
Finally, the course explains how to identify, prevent and manage sources of risks. Module Three explains what records are required to evidence and support risk management, and how long these records must be kept for.
Guided Learning Hours: up to 45 minutes, dependent on learner’s skills and abilities.
The training provided is linked to the Care Certificate and the Health and Social Care Diploma at level 2 and level 3.
