Yes. The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to make sure that adequate first aid provision is in place for their workplace. This includes having trained first aiders and appropriate equipment. CQC-regulated providers must also make sure staff are trained to respond to medical emergencies, and first aid training is assessed under the Safe domain at inspection.

Basic first aid training covers the foundational skills needed to respond to common emergencies such as CPR, choking, bleeding, and unconsciousness. First Aid at Work (FAW) is a more comprehensive qualification required in higher-risk workplaces. Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) sits between the two and is suitable for lower-risk workplaces with fewer employees.
