The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is committed to ensuring safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care and are working with the Department of Health and Social Care and others to support improvements to the care system.
The CQC regularly partake in infection prevention and control (IPC) inspections of care and hospital locations. The aspects that are looked at in these inspections are:
- Adequate PPE is available for staff and residents to control infection safely
- Staff are properly trained and the proper procedures are in place
- Layout of premises, use of space and hygiene practice promote safety
