PPE stands for Personal Protective Equipment and, in health and social care, refers to the equipment, including clothing, that is worn to protect staff and patients from the spread of infection.
PPE in healthcare includes protective clothing such as aprons, gloves, and safety footwear. As well as protective equipment, including eye protection (goggles and safety glasses) and respiratory protective equipment (RPE).
