It can be hard to diagnose dyslexia as people with dyslexia can often find ways to work around their difficulties. However, as a teacher or teaching assistant, you can suspect dyslexia by noticing any of these problems:
– Poor reading skills, despite having ‘normal’ intelligence
-Poor writing and reading skills
-Trouble finishing tests and assignments on time
– Trouble memorising lists or phone numbers
– Difficulty remembering the right names for things
– Problems with directions or reading maps
