Dignity Action Day gives ALL within the Health and Social Care sector the opportunity to uphold people’s rights to dignity and provide a truly memorable day for the people who receive care services.

The day aims to raise awareness of the importance of Dignity in Care, highlight a more respectful way of behaving towards vulnerable people as well as to ensure the people who use care services are treated as individuals and given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives.

In recognition of Dignity Action Day, it would be a good task for you to ensure your staff have the knowledge and understanding to pass the 10 Point Dignity Challenge.

The challenge highlights the Dignity Do’s that focuses on the values and actions health and social care workers that respect people’s dignity should do:

The 10 Dignity Do’s:

1) Have a zero tolerance of all forms of abuse
2) Support people with the same respect you would want for yourself or a member of your family
3) Treat each person as an individual by offering a personalised service
4) Enable people to maintain the maximum possible level of independence, choice and control
5) Listen and support people to express their needs and wants
6) Respect people’s right to privacy
7) Ensure people feel able to complain without fear of retribution
8) Engage with family members and carers as care partners
9) Assist people to maintain confidence and positive self-esteem
10) Act to alleviate people’s loneliness and isolation

We at Careskills Academy understand the importance of Dignity in Care which is why as of today we have released our updated Dignity In Care online course to ensure our learners have the most up-to-date information regarding the subject.

Our course will help learners to support adults in health and social care by developing the knowledge and understanding required to promote their dignity and provide effective support.

Support Dignity Action Day by enrolling your staff and educating them on the values and actions that respect people’s dignity.
