There is going to be a new taskforce to speed up dementia research, using the successful approach of the Covid Vaccine taskforce. The research funding is in memory of the late Dame Barbara Windsor and aimed at speeding up the process of finding treatments and cures.

Dementia is one of the biggest challenges we face with nearly 50 million people living with dementia worldwide.
Dementia is a word used to cover lots of different conditions that affect a person’s brain. The most common type of dementia is Alzheimer’s Disease.
We are approaching September, which is World Alzheimer’s Month and this year is focusing on the encouragement for everyone to learn about dementia. The pinnacle point of this month is September 21st which is World Alzheimer’s Day.
Recognising the signs and symptoms of dementia means that individuals can get the right diagnosis and support as quickly as possible.
Let’s try and make a difference and support you to do this by enrolling your staff on Careskills Learning Pathway for Dementia.
It is so easy to overwhelm staff with all the mandatory training that they must do, so we can help you to lighten the load and upskill your staff into supporting individual’s with dementia to ‘Live Well’.
- Start your new staff off with the Care Certificate, where the introduction of dementia begins in Standard 9.
- Then extend their learning and skills by enrolling them onto the 30 min course Induction to Dementia. This develops knowledge, understanding and brings the reality of supporting with dementia into their role.
- Now they have the basic knowledge, progress them onto our Dementia Awareness course, full of information and guidance to positively support individual’s battling with this disease.
