Domiciliary Care Mandatory Courses Overview

Safeguarding Adults – Anyone aspiring to provide Domiciliary Care will need to understand the regulations and legislation governing the protection of adults in such situations. This course covers those regulations as well as subjects related to recognising abuse, unsafe care practices and more.

Moving & Handling – In some cases, the Domiciliary Care worker may be called upon to move an adult. This course provides a basic knowledge of how to do so safely and effectively. You will also learn how to avoid common moving and handling errors, how to operate related equipment and more.

Medication – This Domiciliary Care mandatory training course covers how to assist with or administer medication to people in your care. Since the majority of older adults regularly require some type of medication this line of training is essential.

Infection Control – According to the WHO, more than 95% of all COVID–19 deaths have occurred in people over 60. As such, it has never been so important to contain the spread of infectious agents among the elderly. This course provides basic training related to infection control.

Food Hygiene – Domiciliary Care workers often deliver or prepare food for those being cared for in their homes. This course covers basic food safety measures, including the safe preparation and presentation of food, food hygiene regulations and more.

Fire Safety – Because they often have mobility issues, fire poses a considerable risk to the elderly. This course provides fundamental instruction in identifying fire risks, how fires spread, basic fire safety, how to operate basic firefighting equipment and much more.

First Aid – Even in their homes, vulnerable individuals may require first aid. This Domiciliary Care mandatory training course covers the basics of first aid, how to recognise specific health problems, treating injuries resulting from falls, CPR and more.

Care Certificate – Domiciliary Care workers often work on their own and so will need to obtain a Lone Working Care Certificate. This certificate course provides information on how to support individuals in their home, basic health and safety mechanisms, keeping care plan records and more.
