About this course

Having a designated fire warden or marshal at your workplace is a legal requirement and an important part of fire safety. The designated fire warden works together with the employer to ensure that workplace fire safety measures and procedures are in place.

Our Fire Warden training course will teach your staff what are the different types of fire extinguishers, how to use them, how to prevent fires, how to complete a fire risk assessment, how to deal with emergency evacuations and the roles and responsibilities of a fire marshal. On completion of this online training course, they will become the designated fire marshal / fire warden at work and have the ability to carry out the correct responsibilities and duties.

What is the Train the Trainer Model?

The Train the Trainer model is a programme that aims to develop the skills and knowledge of individuals who will be responsible for training others in a specific field or industry. Through this model, trainers receive training, coaching, and mentoring to improve their training skills, techniques, and strategies.

Some of the skills that trainers develop through the Train the Trainer Model include:

  • Fighting fires: Fighting fires with both fixed installations and portable extinguishers.

  • Fire hazards and causes of fires: Learn the different fire hazards and causes of fire.

  • Emergency protocol: Emergency protocol, including evacuation procedures, emergency lighting and assembly points.

  • Fire alarms, fire drills and safety training: Understand that fire alarms, fire drills and safety training are key components of fire prevention.

  • Fire risk assessment: Learn how to plan and complete a fire risk assessment to comply with legislation.

  • Categories of fire and how they differ: Learn about the categories and classes of fires and what causes them.

  • Colour codes on fire extinguishers: Learn the different types and colours of fire extinguishers and the different situations in which to use them.

  • Reporting: Learn how to correctly report on incidents that happen to comply with the relevant legislation. Regular fire safety inspections and keeping a fire log.

About this course

This is a lighter mandatory training course for health and social care staff that carry out responsibilities at level 2 standard of working practices.

It is for staff working  in settings such as Care Homes, Hospital Wards, Day Centres, or supporting an individual in their own home.

All staff working in health and social care should be trained in Infection Control, to have an understanding of how infections can easily be transmitted and put people at risk. They must have the underpinning knowledge to help prevent and control risks of infection in the workplace and be able to demonstrate working practices that ensure the workplace is maintained at the correct standards of infection control.
