About this course

It is vital for anyone working with children or infants to know what to do should an emergency arise. This Paediatric First Aid course could save the life of a child under your care, should they become unconscious, stop breathing or experience cardiac arrest. You are responsible for the life of any child under your care, make sure you know what to do until help arrives.

Our blended Paediatric First Aid course combines practical face-to-face training and at home interactive e-learning. Learners will understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider, how to provide first aid to a child who is choking, bleeding, burnt, having a seizure and more. The face-to-face training day will include practical training to provide learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to act effectively when emergencies arise. The Department of Education recognises blended learning as an acceptable delivery method of first aid training in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, so learners can gain the full Paediatric First Aid qualification with our course.

About this course

Careskills Academy’s First Aid at Work course is ideal for individuals working in higher-risk environments such as building sites, warehouses and factories, or workplaces with over 50 employees. Participants will develop the skills and confidence needed to manage various first aid situations that may commonly occur in the workplace, potentially saving lives. The curriculum covers injury treatement, basic life support (CPR), HSE regulations and a wide variety of first aid techniques in the workplace.

Upon completion, learners will receive a First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years, and will be qualified to serve as a first aider in the workplace.

About this course

This short course is designed to give learners an awareness of Basic Life Support practice when an individual is not breathing or responsive, or when they are choking either partially or fully.

This course will cross reference to Standard 12 of the Care Certificate for Basic Life Support for Adults but does not replace First Aid Training. Learners will be trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) but should undertake practical training for CPR to be qualified to carry out this practice, when working as a health and social care professional.

About this course

This is a lighter mandatory training course for health and social care staff that carry out responsibilities at level 2 standard of working practices.

It is for staff working  in settings such as Care Homes, Hospital Wards, Day Centres, or supporting an individual in their own home.

All staff working in health and social care  must have a basic knowledge and understanding in using first aid procedures, in the event of an emergency accident or incident. This course includes full Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation procedures.

First Aid Lite training comprises of 6 learning modules:

About this course


This course is part of the Careskills Academy Train the Trainer Programme. If you are not completing the whole programme, we will need to see your training qualification such as a Level 3 Education and Training (previously known as PTLLS) or above.

Prior to the course beginning, you need to ensure you have photographic Identification Documentation and prior learning certifications in first aid. This needs to be a minimum of a level 3 accredited emergency first aid at work qualification for internal training and a level 3 accredited first aid at work qualification for external training to show you have the knowledge and skills to teach first aid to others. We do also offer this qualification.

Within the First Aid Trainer course, you will be required to complete the online training course and then be supported in preparing documentation to enable you to take part in a virtual observation and assessment on First aid in a micro-teach session for 1 hour with your 2-3 learners via Microsoft Teams, where one of our experienced assessors will observe your training. This is to ensure that you are fully competent to deliver First Aid training.

The First Aid Train the trainer course requires to be completed within 12 months. It also needs renewing yearly to remain compliant.

About this course

This course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding required to use effective First Aid practice in your role as a health and social care worker and meet the expectations of a First Aider in your care service.

Following the completion of this course you will be required to attend a practical skills assessment with a Careskills Trainer/Assessor.

This course is part of the TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) and is regulated by Ofqual and The Council for the Curriculum, Examinations & Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.

The qualification unit you will complete is developed and supported by the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum to meet the requirements of the:

  • First Aid at Work Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 Guidance on Regulations (L74)
  • Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines
  • First Aid at Work Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1982 (Northern Ireland)

This standalone qualification provides the eligibility needed for the First Aid Trainer course.
